Welcome Back to William Dick K-8 School for the 2025-26SY!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we prepare for the start of the 2025-2026 school year, we’re excited to welcome our students back to a vibrant and engaging learning environment. We hope you’ve had a wonderful and relaxing summer. This year, we’re focused on our vision: “To empower every student in North Philadelphia to become a thoughtful, academically excellent, and socially responsible individual who thrives and contributes meaningfully to society.”
Our mission at William Dick K-8 School is to inspire academic excellence through exploration and critical thinking. We integrate the arts and foster social responsibility, ensuring all students are high school ready—reading and performing math on grade level, and socially-emotionally prepared—to prosper as contributing members of their community and beyond. As we embark on this journey, our slogan for the year is: William Dick: Cultivating Brilliance, Community Strong!
We want every student to embody our Panther Pride by living up to our ROAR of expectations: being Respectful, taking Ownership, paying Attention, and being Ready to learn.
As you prepare for the new school year, we want to remind you of some important policy updates we shared at the end of last school year. These changes are designed to help all students succeed.
Cell Phone Policy
To help students be Ready and pay Attention, we will implement a strict no-cellphone policy this year. Students are not permitted to have cell phones with them during the school day. Any phones brought to school will be collected at the start of the day and returned at dismissal. This policy change will help minimize distractions, reduce cyberbullying, and encourage students to fully engage in their studies and social interactions, embodying our expectations of Attention and Ownership.
School Uniform Policy
We will strictly enforce our school uniform policy to promote a Respectful and ready-to-learn atmosphere. Please ensure your child is in the proper uniform each day. This is a key part of taking Ownership of their role as a student.
Here is a quick refresher on the updated guidelines:
Grades K-5: Students must wear yellow or gold shirts and black pants.
Middle School (Grades 6-8): Students must wear khaki, black, or all-black attire.
We want to remind you of the items that are prohibited for all grades:
- Shorts, dresses, or skirts that are 3 inches above the knee
- Hoods covering the head
- Masks
- Athletic Tights without a skirt or dress over the top
- Open-toe shoes, slides, slippers, and Crocs
Shirts with writing unless it has the official William Dick school logo
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a successful and safe school year for everyone. We look forward to seeing all our students back on the first day of school, August 25, 2025, at 8:45 AM!
In Partnership,
S. Beverly-Prince
